Candidate Sponsors

Sponsorship is a commitment - a commitment to help a new Cursillista find their way along the Cursillo path. As amazing as the Weekend is for all of us, the 4th day is what it is truly all about. Pray about your candidate, talk with your priest, and meet with them. Scholarships are available for candidates. Make a friend, be a friend, bring a friend to Christ!

Requirements:

A candidate sponsor should be a person who has attended a Cursillo Weekend and is fully active in their own 4th Day and in their parish. It is preferred that a candidate sponsor not be serving on a weekend team during the same weekend their sponsored candidate is attending.

Expectations:

When sponsoring a candidate, the expectation is that the sponsor be available not only to help them with registration and transportation to and from the Weekend, but to encourage and nurture the candidate through the first year following their Weekend. This may include prayer, support in connecting with a Group Reunion, and encouragement to attend Ultreya and 4th Day gatherings as available.

Do I need to apply to be a sponsor?

While there is no application to be a sponsor, the sponsor must sign the Candidate’s application form prior to the endorsement of the Parish priest.
